Terms of Service
These terms govern the web design and related services provided by Jarvis Studio ("I", "me", "Jarvis Studio"), a sole trader operated by Micheal Jarvis based in the North East of England, to you ("you", "the client"). By paying a deposit or engaging my services, you agree to these terms.
01Services
I provide website design, build, branding and related services as described on jarvisstudio.co.uk and agreed with you in writing (by email or project brief). The exact scope, deliverables and plan (Build & Handover or Managed by Jarvis) will be confirmed before work begins.
02Deposits & booking
A £50 booking deposit is required to secure your project. This deposit counts toward your total project price. It is non-refundable once design work has begun, as work on bespoke, made-to-order services starts immediately with your consent.
By paying the deposit you confirm you want work to start straight away and you understand your statutory 14-day cancellation right does not apply once that bespoke work has commenced. If you cancel before any design work has started, the deposit will be refunded in full.
03Pricing & payment
- Build & Handover — £499.99: £50 deposit up front; the remaining £449.99 balance is invoiced and due on completion, before final files and full access are handed over.
- Managed by Jarvis — £199.99 upfront + £39/month: £50 deposit up front; the remaining £149.99 balance is invoiced and due on completion. The £39/month fee then covers hosting, domain, SSL, backups, monitoring and minor monthly updates, billed monthly for a 12-month term.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Invoices are due by the date stated on them. Sites are not launched or handed over until all outstanding balances are paid.
04Revisions
Each project includes reasonable revisions to reach a design you're happy with. Substantial changes to the agreed scope (extra pages, new features or a change of direction after sign-off) may be quoted separately.
05Your responsibilities
To keep your project on track, you agree to provide required content, images, brand assets and feedback in good time. Delays in providing these may extend timelines. You confirm you have the right to use any content and logos you supply to me.
06Ownership & handover
- Build & Handover: once the full balance is paid, you own the final website, files and content outright.
- Managed by Jarvis: the site remains hosted and maintained by me during the plan. At the end of the 12-month term you may continue month-to-month, or take full ownership — confirmed with you before month 12. There is no long-term lock-in.
07Hosting, domains & third parties
On the Managed plan, hosting, domain and SSL are included and provided via third-party services (such as Vercel and a domain registrar). Their availability is subject to those providers. On Build & Handover, you arrange your own hosting and domain after handover.
08Cancellation
You may cancel at any time in writing. The £50 deposit is non-refundable once design work has begun (see section 2). Any work already completed up to the point of cancellation is chargeable. On the Managed plan you can cancel future monthly billing with 30 days' notice; fees already paid are not refunded.
09Liability
I take care to deliver quality work, but to the extent permitted by law my total liability is limited to the fees you have paid for the project. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for issues caused by third-party services or content you supply. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
